How to recognize animal abuse
Animals are abused for many reasons and all of them evolve around humans. Some abuse or neglect is not recognized or intentional to the owners. These owners don't know the proper way to care or provide for a pet. The most common mistakes are leaving the animal outside all the time, don't provide the proper shelter, food or water, or the animal has no social attention from humans or other animals. For people who see this happening to their pets and themselves need to talk to either a shelter or the proper friends that my help.
Then there is the people who purposely neglect there animals. They can do this by tightening the animals collar to much, the animal will show malnutrition, suffer from hair loss or mange, have a filthy living environment, or have a matted coat. When a case like this is found that animal is removed from the home and the owners charged with animal cruelty or neglect. The animals don't deserve a life of neglect, so if you recognize any of these at your home think about what you can do to change that animals life for the better. Even if that means finding a new home for them.

Extreme animal abuseExtreme cases of animal abuse are heart wrenching. These are the people who don't just neglect and let their animal suffer. These people do horrid things that include physical abuse, maiming, torching, hanging, hoarding, and even killing them. Dog fights are illegal, but it still happens because the authorities have a hard time stopping them. Most of the time these people get away with it too, in court they are rarely ever punished for these crimes.

What they are doing in shelters
Everyone that works at a shelter are there for a reason. That reason would be that they all love animals dearly. Not all animal shelters are not the same fortunately hundreds of homeless and unwanted animals end up going into a shelter with caring and professional people who give their all for the animals. Many of the shelters that also seek out the abused animals with volunteers and staff. At these facilities, frightened animals are reassured, all the sick and injured animals are given treatment or a peaceful end to their suffering. The animals also get cleaned and receive a dry living quarter until they are found a suitable home. The shelters staff provide care and special emotional needs. Shelters also never turn away any needy animal, no matter the severity.
Crunching the numbers
These numbers are 100% true and they add up to a real problem.

- More than 50% of the fur in the U.S. come from China, where millions of dogs and cats bled to death because they are skinned alive for their fur. Chinese fur is to frequently mislabeled, so the next time you wear any fur, theirs no sure way of knowing whose skin you're in.
- There has been a new estimation on animal hoarding in the U.S. That number is that there are 900 to 2,000 new cases every year just on hoarding, with 250,000 animals becoming victims.
- Over 115 million animals including - mice, rats, dogs, cats, rabbits, monkeys, birds, and many others that are being killed in laboratory experiments worldwide. These animals are dying from chemical tests, drug tests, food tests, and cosmetics testing every year.
